Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our programs, treatments, and getting started.
Getting Started
What is medical weight loss and how is it different from dieting on my own?+
Medical weight loss is a physician-supervised program that combines prescription treatments, lab work, and ongoing doctor oversight to help you lose weight safely and sustainably. Unlike dieting alone, we identify underlying medical factors — hormonal imbalances, metabolism issues, vitamin deficiencies — and address them directly. Our patients typically lose 2–5x more weight than with diet and exercise alone.
Do I need a referral to come in?+
No referral is needed. You can call any of our 3 Orange County locations directly to schedule a free consultation. Same-week appointments are often available.
What happens at my first appointment?+
Your first visit includes a consultation with one of our physicians, a full health assessment, and lab work if needed. We review your goals, medical history, and lifestyle — then build a personalized treatment plan. The entire process is judgment-free and confidential.
Is there a startup fee or long-term contract?+
No. We charge no startup fees and require no contracts. You pay only for your treatment program — nothing more. You are free to continue, pause, or stop at any time.
Treatments & Medications
What weight loss treatments do you offer?+
We offer a full range of physician-supervised treatments including the HCG Diet, Ozempic (semaglutide), Mounjaro (tirzepatide), B-12 injections, Lipo-B injections, and B-Complex vitamin therapy. Our doctors will recommend the right combination based on your health profile and goals.
What is the HCG Diet and how does it work?+
The HCG Diet uses a hormone called Human Chorionic Gonadotropin combined with a low-calorie protocol to target stored fat while preserving lean muscle. It has been used in physician-supervised weight loss programs for decades. Our doctors monitor your progress closely to ensure safety and results.
What is the difference between Ozempic and Mounjaro?+
Both are GLP-1 medications approved for weight management and blood sugar control, but they work differently. Ozempic (semaglutide) activates one hormone receptor (GLP-1), while Mounjaro (tirzepatide) activates two (GLP-1 and GIP), which can lead to greater weight loss for some patients. Clinical trials show Mounjaro patients lost an average of 15–22% of body weight vs. 12–15% with Ozempic. Our physicians will help determine which is right for you.
What are B-12 and Lipo-B injections?+
B-12 injections boost energy, improve metabolism, and support nervous system health — many patients notice significant improvement in energy and mood within days. Lipo-B (lipotropic) injections contain a blend of B-12, B-6, and amino acids (methionine, inositol, choline) that help break down fat, support liver function, and enhance metabolism. Both are safe, fast, and can be done during a quick office visit.
Are these medications FDA-approved?+
Ozempic and Mounjaro are FDA-approved medications. HCG-based programs and lipotropic injections have been used in physician-supervised clinical settings for decades and are administered under physician oversight at all Soboba locations.
Cost & Insurance
How much does a medical weight loss program cost?+
Costs vary depending on the treatment plan and medications prescribed. We offer affordable programs and work with patients to find options that fit their budget. Call any of our locations for current pricing — we are transparent about costs and will never surprise you with hidden fees.
Do you accept insurance?+
Some treatments may be covered depending on your insurance plan and medical history. We recommend calling your insurance provider to check coverage for specific medications like Ozempic or Mounjaro. Our staff can help provide documentation needed for insurance claims.
Are doctor visits included in the cost?+
Yes — physician consultations are included with your treatment program at Soboba. You are not charged a separate doctor visit fee on top of your program cost. This is one of the key advantages of our model.

Results & Safety
How much weight can I expect to lose?+
Results vary by individual, program, and commitment level, but our patients typically see significant results within the first few weeks. Many patients on GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Mounjaro lose 15–22% of their body weight over several months. HCG patients often see rapid early losses. Your doctor will set realistic expectations based on your specific situation.
Are the treatments safe?+
Yes — all treatments are administered under physician supervision. Before starting any program, our doctors review your medical history, current medications, and lab results to ensure the recommended treatment is appropriate and safe for you. We have been helping patients lose weight safely since 1968.
What are the side effects of Ozempic or Mounjaro?+
Common side effects include nausea, reduced appetite, and mild digestive changes — especially in the first few weeks as your body adjusts. Most patients find these manageable and temporary. Our physicians monitor your progress and adjust dosing as needed to minimize side effects. Serious side effects are rare but are reviewed during your consultation.
